I remembered my time when I was in the cheerleading squad.

Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up, you schmucks. But it's true. Male cheerleaders are actually quite uncommon, but not unheard of.

I was in my first year in high school and I joined the school's football team (no, I'm not going to call it soccer because it sounds stupid). I was their substitute goalkeeper. While I can't say that I was the best, I was actually considered to be the most driven in terms to running after the ball.

Me and the coach had a huge falling out near the end of the year because he wanted me to demote me to the reserves to make way for another goalkeeper who had only joined the team by the half year. It was really unfair since I had to work my ass off.

But that was life.

Because of that incident, I had quit the team. However, I still wanted to support them. So I decided to join the cheerleading squad. The cheerleaders were really skeptical, but it was when I showed my enthusiasm, energy and motivation that I was accepted.

While I wasn't the most flexible, I was as loud and coordinated like the other squad members.

Originally, I joined the squad out of spite. However as the months went by, I really began to enjoy it there.

It was the greatest experience of my life. While everyone else was in the bus full of sweaty equipment, I was sitting in a van with seven other cheerleaders talking about life. The van's driver was a chain smoker mom who was deaf on the right ear.

I would never forget this experience.
